Nike’s All Conditions Gear sub-label focuses on providing footwear that can conquer both urban and off-road environments. Over the years, this has led to a huge variety of designs, from the most hard-wearing trail shoes to cosy slip-ons like the ACG Rufus. First released in 2001, this mule-style sneaker is built for maximum comfort but with a rugged edge that allows it to thrive outdoors.

The Nike ACG Rufus features a one-piece upper that stretches from toe to heel with a stitched seam around the padded collar. Since its 2024 rerelease, it has been made using a variety of materials, including durable suede, soft canvas and smooth leather, with either matching or contrasting fabrics applied to the collar. Inside, a plush fleece lining brings snug, warming comfort around the entire foot, while its step-in design makes for easy on and off.

The outdoor-ready sole unit of the ACG Rufus incorporates supportive EVA foam throughout the midsole and durable rubber across the outsole. This reliable blend of materials allows the wearer to take relaxed walks outside, whether around town or on a trip to the countryside. Its outsole is particularly rugged, with a series of rounded grip pads through the centre and large, sturdy lugs around the edge for outstanding traction. The rubber even cradles the forefoot and extends up the heel to provide comprehensive protection. Lastly, a flex point has been set between the forefoot and midfoot to ensure freedom of movement.

With its suave, seamless upper and bold sole, the Nike ACG Rufus has a laid-back style. Minimal branding touches come from the Swoosh etched into the toe, the ACG symbol framed within a rubberised bubble in the outsole and the miniature logo on the lateral flank, which represents the only decoration on the upper. Colourways released in summer 2024, such as the heritage ‘Limestone’, have a subtle debossed Swoosh, while later editions like 2025’s denim designs display an elegant metallic Swoosh badge and the dapper leather colourways in sophisticated black and brown feature embossed ACG lettering.
